To use SSI's Change Tracking Tools, you must be able to identify your Project's Tracking Unique ID field for tasks and resources.
The Task Tracking Unique ID
The Tracking Unique ID field is whatever field that is used to uniquely identify (or track) each task in the Project. This value should never change and will serve as the constant reference point to any given task, even if the Project file is renamed, moved, overwritten, or integratedwith other projects. In most standard Microsoft Project environments, this will just be the regular Unique ID field:
However, if you are working in a Multi-Project Environment, this field will likely not be the regular unique ID field, and will instead be some custom Text field.
The Resource Tracking Unique ID is whatever value that is used to uniquely identify (or track) each Resource in the Project’s Resource Sheet. This value should never change and serves as the constant reference point to any given resource. In most standard environments, this will just be the regular Unique ID field.
Although the SSI Change Tracking Tools cannot record or import changes to the Resource Sheet, the Resource Tracking Unique ID is still needed to properly track changes to Resource Assignments.
