A Project Unique ID is an alternative Unique ID field that should be setup in Subproject files. The goal of this field is to always have a way to reference the "true" unique ID of a task within a Subproject, regardless if it has been integrated into a Master Project Schedule.
Setting up a Project Unique ID Field is easy. Follow these steps to setup a Project Unique ID field in your own Subproject files:
Open the Custom Fields Dialog by clicking the Project Ribbon, then clicking the Custom Fields button.
Select an available Text Field in the Project
Rename that field "Project UID"
Set the Custom Arributes of the Field to utilize a formula
Set the formula to be equal to an abbreviated name or acronym for the project and an underscore (_), followed by the value in the regular Unique ID field. See the example below:
NOTE: In the Master Project Shell file, you MUST set the custom attributes of this field to NONE to maintain the values from the Subproject files.
Set the Calculation for task and group summary rows to "Use Formula"
