SSI Trace Tools help navigate a complex network to quickly isolate tasks that are “driving” or being "driven" by any task(s) in the schedule. Use these tools to automatically identify and display the end-to-end Driving/Driven Path of any item(s) you select.
With just one click you can identify and display the longest work stream of preceding or succeeding tasks to item(s) you select using the tab named Driving Path Analysis.
If you select multiple items when running a driving/driven path analysis, the results will appear in the table in the Multi-Path tab
Definitions
Critical Path- The Project Critical Path is defined as the longest sequence of tasks from the current project status date to the end of the project. The expansion or delay of tasks on the project critical path should slip the forecasted end date of the project.
Driving Path - The longest sequence of tasks from the current project status date to an interim project item. The expansion or delay of driving path tasks will slip the forecasted date of the focus item but may or may not slip the forecasted end date of the project.
Near Critical Path or Driving Path - Tasks have one or more days of schedule flexibility (float or slack). Tasks with one to five days of float or slack may be considered secondary critical path or driving path tasks. Tasks with six to ten days of float or slack may be considered tertiary critical path or driving path tasks and so on. Project teams can define their own float or slack thresholds for secondary and tertiary critical or driving path tasks as there is no Government or Industry standard for these values.
Driven Path - The successors that follow the focus task which are directly impacted by its current schedule. A delay of the focus task will have a direct impact on its driven path.
