Positive Lag (DCMA Point 3 - "Lags" Assessment)

SSI Tools Counts:
Predecessors on Incomplete Tasks (not summaries and not zero duration milestones) that have positive lag to their successor.  The Pass threshold is no more than 5% of the predecessors counted in the population.  Note - SSI tools uses the total number of Predecessors in the project for this metric.  Since one task may have one or more predecessors, the total population counted can be often greater than the total number of tasks in the project.

This represents the number of lag in predecessor logic relationships for incomplete tasks. The critical path and any subsequent analysis can be adversely affected by using lags. Per the IMS DID, lag should not be used to manipulate float/slack or to restrain the schedule. Using MS Excel, count the number of “Lags” that are found. The number relationships with lags should not exceed 5%.

Lags % = (# of logic links with lags / # of logic links) × 100
