Why does it matter if items in the project have Negative Lag?
The DCMA bans the use of negative lags and some scheduling experts consider their use to be illogical since the predecessor can, in effect, be driven by the predecessor.
Resolving Negative Lag
Perform the Audit and Click on each item in the resulting tasks list to go to the offending task. You can also click Filter for Items Below to display tasks with audit issues and record the offending condition in the Integrity Note log field.
Schedulers should work directly with subject matter experts and the project team to examine work flow and life-cycle models that are applicable to the project. If it is determined that predecessors and successors are linked incorrectly or illogically they should be corrected for the associated tasks.
