You have a few options for identifying which tasks in the schedule should have QBD steps. Tasks using the % Complete Earned Value Method, as opposed to tasks that take performance only when they start and finish, should have QBD Steps to backup their in-progress percent complete value.
You may, for example, enter an Earned Value Method (EVM) code in a text field such as the letter “C”. “C” is the Cobra letter code for work packages taking in-progress performance using assessed percent complete rather than just taking performance when the work package starts and finishes. You can select pre-defined methods or just type your own method of identifying percent complete work packages in the field on the left of the image below. Then be sure to specify which Project field the method will be found. You can also specify a Baseline duration, in Days, that, if exceeded, will determine tasks that should have QBD Steps.
SSI’s QBD tools only uses Physical % Complete for the assessed performance value. As you complete the QBD steps associated with a task, you can record the cumulative step value in the task’s Physical % Complete. Then you can post timeline % progress to the tasks % Complete field making sure you have no unfinished portion of the task in the past and no finished portion of the task occurring after the project’s status date.

Once you have selected your identification method, select the option to List Incomplete Tasks for QBD or Include Completed Tasks to show tasks that require QBD steps in a list that displays their Unique ID (as U ID), Name, Start, Finish and Physical % Complete (as % Cmp)
